Aric:step 2: pick a filing status. since we are both single, we shall file under "single."

Jack: step 3. choose between standardized deduction or itemizing. ooh, what fun. can't decide.

Jack: step 4. choose how to file your taxes. since it is more convenient, we are going to use an online tax software.

Aric: now, time to actually file your taxes. now this step requires step inside this step. in the wonderful world of taxes we call those substeps.
